I began designing my layout back in 2010
This is about as far as I got before getting caught up in other things
Two years later, I return to the project and finally finish designing the layout
Finally it's time to build. Preparing to drill turret boards
Drill guides taped to boards
Drilling turret holes
Installing turrets
Making progress
All turrets installed
Preamp board completed
Reverb section of main board done, working on power amp section
I love the symmetrical beauty of push-pull circuitry
Main board completed
Center-punching the chassis, preparing to drill it
Pilot holes drilled
Drilling holes for the tube sockets
All holes drilled
Using a spare drill plan to keep track of which holes have been drilled, and other notes
Gavin keeps me company and works on his own project
Preparing to cut the hole for the IEC power connector
All holes completed
Ready to begin installing components
Working on installing components
Wiring from the transformers etc is routed inside the chassis with rubber grommets
Heater wiring installed
Big 25W resistor installed on the output jacks to help protect the amp in case it's ever powered on without a speaker connected
Boards installed in the chassis
Transformers, choke, and rectifier and power tubes wired up
After a few days of tedious work, all wiring is done. Not pictured: 5 days of debugging to solve a hum issue that ended up being an ungrounded output jack
The completed amp
Building a quick-and-dirty plywood cabinet so I can gig with the amp while I work on the "real" cab
Cabinet completed and reverb tank mounted
The live setup: Cow Pi through Ampeg 2x12 for crunchy tones, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe for clean tones
Rear view of cab. Still gotta zip tie the RCA cable for the reverb tank
Current pedalboard arrangement. Homemade Sir Mix-a-lot pedal mixes my guitar and keyboard signals at the input, various homemade and commercial pedals in between, and the Boss Line Switcher switches between the two amps at the output
Now with a formal name
